Both of South Dakota’s gubernatorial candidates plan to address the issue of transparency in government if elected. Billie Sutton and Kristi Noem both believe in an open and honest government but have different options on how to achieve that goal. Representative Kristi Noem won the republican seat for governor after the June primary and says taxpayers have the right to know where their money goes, especially in regards to state lawsuits. Billie Sutton will run against Noem as a democrat and feels transparency is a bi-partisan issue in which he has worked across the aisle to address in the State Senate. The 2018 South Dakota gubernatorial election will take place on November 6.
